The Industrial Sector Is Affected by the Driver Strike .. Serious Issues: Energy Economy and Production

 Ahmed Al-Khudari, director of Adnan Al-Khudari & Sons Industrial Food Company, forewarned "Al-Anbat" of the continued driver strikes while highlighting how the industrial sector is unmistakably beginning to suffer as all trucks issued are reserved from shipping lines. In this situation, the industrial sector cannot protect goods on the port of Aqaba, which poses a serious difficulty for international exports, and may have to pay fines to cancel bookings if it is taken by many containers on a ship. 

The most significant challenges for Jordan's industrial sector are energy and high production costs, which kill competition with other nations and restrict exports abroad. Jordan has the highest electricity prices in comparison to its neighbors, and calls for a reduction in workplace bureaucracy are made. 

He emphasized that the General Authority of the Chambers of Industry has established a board to organize meetings intended to upgrade the industry, and he described a recent meeting held in the presence of the Minister of Industry and Trade as a success because it demonstrated the government's sincerity in providing real support for the industrial sector, which is represented by the Industry Support Fund in its four axes, for the first time.

 

A second Jordanian participation in the Abas exhibition in Brazil in the fifth month, as well as the participation of more than 20 Jordanian companies in another exhibition in New York, were both mentioned in his explanation of the industry's ten industrial sectors and how each sector will attend international exhibitions.
