The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Amman held a press conference yesterday at its headquarters in the Abdoun region, during it Organ Abiyev spoke about the political elections that Kazakhstan will witness on the fifth of the current month of June, related to the referendum on constitutional reform, which includes the introduction of amendments and additions to the country’s constitution.

 In an interview with reporters, the advisor at the embassy, ​​said that the constitutional amendments aim to consolidate the final transition from a "super-presidential" form of government to a presidential republic, an effective parliament and an accountable government.

 He added during the conference that the most important amendments included in the constitutional reform came to limit the powers of the president and further enhance human rights, which include the establishment of a constitutional court, the consolidation of the position of the Commissioner for Human Rights at the constitutional level, and the imposition of a complete ban on executions, with the aim of respecting the rights and freedoms of citizens, in addition to placing a ban on The president's closest relatives hold political and administrative positions in the semi-public sector.

The chancellor said that the constitutional amendments gave more power to Parliament and more representation of the people, as the proportional system for elections was replaced by a proportional mixed majority system, and the popular participation in the administration of the country was expanded, and it constituted the optimal balance in relations between the branches of power and building an effective dialogue between the state and society.

 Abiyev called on the residents of the Kazakh community In the Kingdom, to the necessity of participating in the elections that will take place related to the constitutional referendum on the fifth of this June, where the embassy will open its doors to the voters, indicating that the referendum will allow every citizen to participate directly in this great and historic event that the country will witness.

The advisor also thanked the Jordanian authorities for providing all support for the success of the electoral process and for opening the ballot boxes for the voters of the Kazakh community to participate in the elections.

 Abiyev noted that Kazakhstan, with a population of 19 million, will witness through the amendments a major democratic transformation in the country to determine the future of the country, which is the first referendum since 1995.

The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, gave a televised speech to the people about the introduction of amendments and additions to the Constitution, which received universal support.
