Jordan GBC & the Regional Climate and Energy Project, Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung (FES) / Amman office Launch "The Net Zero Building in Jordan” Booklet
Organised under the patronage of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources H.E. Eng. Hala Zawati, the launching event of "NetZero Building in Jordan” booklet was virtually conducted on the 30th of November, 2020. Where Jordan Green Building Council and the Regional Climate and Energy Project, Friedrich-Ebert Stiftung (FES) collaborated to launch their fifth joint booklet about NetZero buildings and their applicability in Jordan. 
The purpose of this booklet is to deliver a guide for the implementation of NetZero buildings for affordable, typical homes in Jordan. The guide compiles the best strategies to create a significant step towards a more sustainable built environment by implementing the concept of NetZero Buildings in the residential sector in Jordan. Additionally, the guide targets local practitioners including engineers, contractors, and people working in the governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as the general public. Head of Regional Climate & Energy Project MENA Sarah Hepp said "The building sector plays a major role in achieving the climate targets towards greenhouse gas neutrality. However, measures to increase energy efficiency in buildings are unfortunately a matter of money. In our booklet with Jordan GBC we look for affordable solutions.”
This virtual event provides a great opportunity to introduce NetZero buildings and their benefits to our health & our environment. Including a discussion panel, in which high-level representatives from international organization, public and private sector leading & supporting the global green building movement: Eng. Wajdi Sahawneh, the general manager of Sterling BIM (Moderator), Eng. Eman Sabbah, NetZero Booklet Author from Jordan GBC, Eng.Lina AL-Mobaideenh, the Project Development Manager of Jordan Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fund (JREEEF), Mr. Mohammad Asfour the Head of MENA & Africa Regional Networks in WorldGBC, and Arch. Maysoon Al-Khuraissat, Founder of Adaa Sustainable Development Consultants. 
This panel provided a platform for a dialogue between the diverse speakers to come up with recommendations from a holistic approach. This also offers an opportunity for attendees to discuss with decision makers and hear from the experts themselves about the challenges Jordan faces in this field. Furthermore, it highlighted means of supporting lower-income groups in regard to national plans related to energy efficiency in buildings and programs towards NetZero buildings.
