Tarawneh receives invitation to attend Parliamentarians for Jerusalem Conference

Al-Anbat - Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament, Atef Tarawneh, urged the Turkish tourists to visit Jerusalem en route Jordanian territory as a step to confirm the positions of Jordan and Turkey towards the Palestinian people.

During his meeting with Turkish Ambassador to the Kingdom, Murat Karagoz, Tarawneh said the two countries have "strong" ties, which should be reflected on the ground to achieve their joint interests and to serve the Palestinian cause.

Karagoz delivered an official invitation to Tarawneh from his Turkish counterpart Ben Ali Yildirim to participate in the second conference of Association of Parliamentarians for Jerusalem (PFJ), to be held in mid-December, under the title "Jerusalem is the Only and Real Capital of Palestine."

Tarawneh stressed the importance of enhancing bilateral cooperation between the two countries to an advanced level of sharing similar views on several regional issues.

On economic and tourism cooperation, Tarawneh stressed the importance of working to rectify any imbalance in trade relations, as Jordan has a fair and long-standing view in this context, which was presented by specialists to the Turkish side, calling for enhancing tourism cooperation and rendering Jordan as a destination for Turkish tourists.

For his part, the Turkish envoy stressed Ankara's understanding of Jordan's position on the free trade agreement, adding this issue is being currently discussed by his country's government.

Karagoz said Turkey is keen to achieve the desired benefit to both countries out of this agreement.

He noted the two countries have honorable positions on the Palestinian issue.

As for tourism, he said entry of the Turkish tourists en route Jordan is being discussed by his country, citing several factors related to the cost of aviation and taxes, which require the Jordanian side to provide incentive steps for the Turkish tourist.
