Speech from the Throne by His Majesty King Abdullah II
Opening the Third Ordinary Session of the 18th Parliament

Addressed by His Majesty King Abdullah II at the opening of the third Ordinary Session of the Parliament, the constitutionally mandated ‘Speech from the Throne’ on October 14, 2018 took place at the House of Representatives, Amman.

The Speech, which usually addresses national policies and vital regional issues, called for cooperation among all sectors and governmental units in order to achieve various national objectives.

His Majesty’s speech emphasized the following values and goals:

There are problems that we have to address and seek solutions for in order to achieve progress as a collective national endeavor.  His Majesty went on to address all Jordanians, asking them to remember that their energy must be used to further boost our country and help it progress. Jordan is a country of law, and a country that revolves around its citizens. Therefore, justice is a right for all,. Our country won't allow corruption to stand against its progress. Our government is capable to eliminate corruption, and we need all collaborative efforts to do so. Because the traditional policy cannot stand against the economic problems, the government has to adopt a reform roadmap that work towards an on-going plan and tangible steps that strengthen the economy and complies with the universal changes that are fluctuating frequently. Jordan’s stand in the Palestinian cause remains solid and central. As for Jerusalem, we continue to defend its independence on Palestinian national soil, with Jerusalem as its capital.
