Gaza Border Crossings Set to Reopen, Says World Food Programme

Border crossings into Gaza are set to reopen imminently, the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) announced on Tuesday, a development the agency says is critical for the delivery of essential aid.

The reopening follows a brief closure, the reasons for which were not immediately specified by the WFP.

"The crossings will be opened," Samer AbdelJaber, WFP's Regional Director for the Middle East, North Africa, and Eastern Europe, told reporters in Geneva during a video call from Cairo. "This is very important for us. We need to get assistance in as quickly as possible."

The WFP emphasized the urgency of resuming aid deliveries to address the pressing humanitarian needs within Gaza. The brief closure had raised concerns about potential disruptions to the flow of food and other vital supplies to the region.
