The Research Institute of Nuclear Physics at the Russian State University announced encountering of new physical phenomena in the planet's atmosphere, according to Sputnik news agency.

The Institute said that Russian astronomic satellite "Mikhailo Lomonosov", launched to the Earth's orbit in 2016, has registered light "explosions", whose physical nature has not been explained so far, in the planet's atmosphere using an ultraviolet telescope.

"With the help of the telescope, we have obtained even more important results than we expected. It looks like we have encountered new physical phenomena We do not yet know their physical nature," Director of the Institute, Mikhail Panasyuk, said.

He added that they have registered several times a very powerful 'explosion' of light. "But everything was clear underneath it, no storms, no clouds," he stated.
