Jordanian Anti-Narcotics Raids Net 18 Suspects, Seize Drugs and Weapons

Jordanian authorities have apprehended 18 individuals suspected of drug trafficking and distribution in a series of targeted operations across the Kingdom, the Public Security Directorate announced.

The suspects were arrested during 10 separate cases and security campaigns conducted by the Anti-Narcotics Department in various regions, according to spokesperson Amer Sartawi.

The raids resulted in the seizure of substantial quantities of various narcotics, as well as firearms, highlighting the ongoing efforts to combat drug-related activities.

According to Sartawi, a specialized investigative team in the capital city, Amman, had been monitoring two individuals suspected of promoting narcotics for several weeks. Following the surveillance, authorities raided their location, seizing 83 blocks of hashish and 10 kilograms of marijuana.

In another operation in Amman, three alleged drug dealers were apprehended with 21 blocks of hashish, 3 kilograms of marijuana, and 300 grams of crystal methamphetamine.

Two individuals accused of supplying narcotics to dealers were arrested with 1.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and three firearms.

A separate raid in Amman led to the arrest of a suspected dealer found in possession of six blocks of hashish, while another dealer was apprehended south of the capital with five blocks of the same substance.

In Madaba Governorate, two operations resulted in the arrest of two dealers with 121 blocks of hashish, while multiple raids led to the apprehension of three promoters with assorted quantities of narcotics.

In the Ramtha district, one alleged drug trafficker was arrested after a raid, with 1.5 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine seized.

In the southern region, two dealers were apprehended on the Desert Highway while transporting 28 blocks of hashish. In Karak Governorate, authorities tracked and raided a suspected dealer, seizing six blocks of hashish.

Sartawi affirmed the Anti-Narcotics Department's commitment to proactive operations targeting drug traffickers and distributors, urging citizens to report any suspicious activities.
