Jordan Braces for Cold Snap with Possible Frost

AMMAN - Jordan is set to experience a spell of cold weather across most regions, with potential frost formation in the early morning hours, the nation's meteorological department warned.

Temperatures are expected to dip slightly on Wednesday, bringing cold conditions to most areas while the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will experience milder temperatures. There is a slight chance of light, brief showers in limited parts of the northern Kingdom and the northeastern Badia region. Winds will be moderate northwesterly, picking up in the afternoon, especially in the Badia areas.

A minor increase in temperatures is anticipated on Thursday, but cold weather will persist in most areas, with pleasant conditions in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Clouds will appear at low altitudes, and winds will be moderate northwesterly, occasionally becoming active.

Friday will see another slight rise in temperatures, with relatively cold weather in most regions and mild conditions in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. High-altitude clouds are expected, and southeasterly winds will shift to northwesterly in the afternoon, occasionally becoming active.

Today, Amman will see maximum and minimum temperatures ranging from 16-6 degrees Celsius in the eastern part of the city and 14-4 degrees Celsius in the west. Northern highlands will experience temperatures of 13-2 degrees Celsius, while the Sharah highlands will see 12- -1 degrees Celsius. Badia regions will have temperatures of 18-4 degrees Celsius, plains 16-6 degrees Celsius, northern Jordan Valley 23-6 degrees Celsius, southern Jordan Valley 25-12 degrees Celsius, the Dead Sea 24-11 degrees Celsius, and Aqaba 24-10 degrees Celsius.

The weather on Tuesday will be sunny and cold in most areas, with mild temperatures in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Winds will be moderate northeasterly, shifting to northwesterly in the afternoon.

The meteorological department cautioned against the risk of frost formation in the early morning hours over the mountainous highlands and parts of the Badia and plains. Reduced horizontal visibility due to dust is also possible, especially in the Badia regions.
