Jordan Sounds Sirens Amid Regional Tensions, Issues Safety Guidelines

Amman - Sirens sounded in various areas across Jordan, prompting citizens to heightened awareness and adherence to safety instructions amid escalating regional tensions and potential military threats.

The Public Security Directorate has previously outlined the meaning of the sirens. Three intermittent blasts signal an imminent threat, while a single blast indicates that the threat has passed.

In response to the alarm, the directorate advises people to remain where they are and avoid unnecessary movement. Those outside should seek shelter in the nearest building until the all-clear is given.

Citizens are also urged to stay away from windows and exposed areas, seeking refuge near concrete stairwells if available.

Regarding the handling of suspicious objects, the directorate strongly advises against approaching or tampering with any unfamiliar or fallen objects. People should maintain a safe distance due to the potential presence of highly dangerous explosive materials.

The Public Security Directorate also emphasized the importance of avoiding gatherings near such objects, allowing specialized teams to handle the situation effectively.

Under no circumstances should individuals touch, move, or attempt to open any object of unknown origin or shape, as it should be considered a real and present danger.

Any sightings of falling objects, drones, or missiles, as well as reports of injuries or damage, should be immediately reported via the unified emergency number (911).

The Public Security Directorate stressed the importance of educating family members, especially children, about the dangers of approaching or playing with unfamiliar objects and the necessity of reporting them immediately.

The directorate urged the public to refrain from spreading rumors or sharing unverified images and information on social media platforms, emphasizing the importance of obtaining information only from official and trusted sources.

The Public Security Directorate reaffirmed that adherence to these guidelines contributes significantly to the protection of lives and property, enabling specialized agencies to perform their duties efficiently and promptly.
