Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Hala Zawati, Tuesday called on Germany to support establishment of a new Jordanian-German Energy Academy for capacity building and know-how transfer and also to become a regional hub for technical support .
During her meeting with President of the Arab-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who served as the Federal Minister of Transport, Peter Ramsauer, Zawati discussed means of opening opportunities before Jordanian engineers and technicians to work in the German market.
The minister also urged for more technology investment between the two countries to drive the Kingdom's energy sector growth and make the country
Talks during the meeting also tackled opening the markets for more investments of the two sides, as well as the mechanisms required to make Jordan more attractive for businesses.
In a press statement after the meeting, Zawati said that cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector was boosted after the recently signed partnership agreement which provides broader scopes of technical support and assistance.
The Minister invited the German Chamber of Commerce and Industry to participate in the Jordanian-German Energy Day, due next July, and welcomed the holding of the Arab-German Forum 2020 in the Kingdom.
Meanwhile, Ramsauer stressed the readiness of the chamber to cooperate with Jordan in opening new markets to enable the Kingdom's industry to meet the required European standards, expressing his country's willingness to provide the necessary expertise for Jordanians to contribute to sustainable development and capacity development.
He added that Germany is currently undergoing a major transformation in the field of energy by focusing on clean and renewable energy along with the gradual closing of traditional nuclear power stations and coal plants.
