Qatar's Snoonu Integrates AI, Plans Robot Deliveries

DOHA - Qatari delivery application Snoonu is integrating artificial intelligence (AI) throughout its operations, from order placement to final delivery, according to founder Hamad Al Hajri.

The company envisions a future where robots and drones handle the majority of deliveries, with humanoid robots potentially providing services in restaurants, shops, and even security.

Al Hajri also announced the launch of “Snoonu Robotics” in partnership with the Qatar Research, Development and Innovation Council, developing drones and ground delivery robots with locally-made operating systems.

The company has identified Lusail Boulevard, Msheireb, and The Pearl in Qatar as suitable locations for ground robots, focusing on modern infrastructure that allows smooth movement.

Drones will target remote areas such as Sealine and Al-Shahaniya, providing delivery services to small, isolated villages.

Snoonu aims to expand across the Arab world, from Sur in Oman to Agadir in Morocco, building a large Arab company that fosters digital sovereignty in the region.

The application currently offers food, supermarket, and pharmacy deliveries within 20 minutes, along with laundry services, cinema ticket booking, flowers, and gifts, all supported by a loyalty program.

Snoonu utilizes AI-driven personalization to recommend restaurants and dishes based on individual preferences, similar to Netflix.

Al Hajri described the company’s AI philosophy as “the best AI is the one you don’t feel.” The application uses an AI-enhanced recommendation program that displays products based on user behavior.

A digital assistant, named “Genie” after the genie of Arabian folklore, helps customers choose suitable products through natural conversation.

The AI system also selects the most suitable driver and optimizes delivery routes automatically. It intervenes to expedite the process if an order is delayed at the restaurant or store.

Internally, Snoonu's team uses AI tools such as Notion AI and Google Workspace to enhance productivity and focus on creative tasks.
