Jordan's National Basketball Team Heads to Beirut for World Cup Qualifiers

Jordan's national men's basketball team has arrived in Beirut, Lebanon, to compete in the second window of the Asian Qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, where they will face Iran and Iraq.

The delegation includes head coach Roy Rana, assistant coach Makoto Mamiya, national assistants Naif Asfour and Fadi Yaghmour, video coordinator Raed Ghosheh, development officer Marwan Matouq, fitness coach Ahmed Samir, therapist Anas Jarajreh, team manager Mohammad Al-Dabbas, and administrator Abd Al-Hadi Salameh.

The player roster features Ahmad Al-Dwairi, Ahmad Hamarsheh, Mohammad Shaher, Hashem Abbas, Fadi Mustafa "Freddy", Mahmoud Al-Hazaymeh, Yazan Al-Taweel, Abdullah Olawuwan, Youssef Abu Wazna, Malek Kanaan, Youssef Al-Duwaik, Akef Al-Shiyab, Fadi Qarmash, and naturalized player Jalen Harris.

The team concluded its training camp in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, where they played two closed-door friendly matches against Saudi Arabia and the UAE. These matches were part of intensive technical and physical preparations aimed at enhancing team cohesion, addressing tactical aspects, correcting errors, and reinforcing strengths before the continental competition.

Jordan is scheduled to play against Iran and Iraq at the Nouhad Nawfal Sports Complex in Beirut. The game against Iran is scheduled for Friday, and the match against Iraq is set for Monday.

In the first window of the Asian Qualifiers, Jordan secured two victories against Syria. Jordan leads Group C with four points, ahead of Iran on points difference. Iraq and Syria occupy the third and fourth positions, respectively, with two points each.

The Jordan Basketball Federation expressed its confidence in the coaching staff, management, and players, hoping they will continue their strong performance and achieve results that reflect the reputation of Jordanian basketball. The federation aims to reach the World Cup for the third consecutive time and the fourth time in its history, further solidifying the status of the "Falcons of Al-Nashama" on the continental and international stages.
