RIYADH - A drone attack caused a fire at the U.S. Embassy in Riyadh early Tuesday, according to Saudi Arabia's Ministry of Defense.
The ministry stated that initial assessments indicate two drones were involved in the incident. The attack resulted in a limited fire and minor property damage to the embassy building.
Witnesses reported hearing a loud explosion and seeing flames rising from the embassy premises. Smoke was also observed emanating from the Diplomatic Quarter, where the embassy is located.
Details regarding the perpetrators or their motives remain unclear as investigations are underway. Authorities are working to determine the full extent of the damage and ensure the safety of embassy personnel and the surrounding area.
The U.S. Embassy has yet to release a statement but the incident is being closely monitored by both Saudi and U.S. officials.
