Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Dr. Imad Hejazeen affirmed that hosting *Jordan MMA Week* represents a significant step in leveraging sports to enhance the Kingdom’s tourism profile, reach new markets and audiences, and transform global interest in the championship into sustainable tourism and economic opportunities.
He made the remarks during the press conference launching the *DF UNCAGED* championship at the Fairmont Amman Hotel, which began with a minute of silence in honour of the martyrs of terrorism.
Hejazeen explained that holding the championship at the Roman Theatre, with events extending to the Dead Sea and the Citadel, reflects an approach that integrates sports with Jordan’s cultural heritage and natural attractions. This strategy aims to enrich the visitor experience, encourage longer stays and generate benefits across the tourism sector.
The championship is being organised at the initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities and the Jordan Tourism Board, as part of their efforts to diversify Jordan’s tourism offerings and strengthen the Kingdom’s presence on the international sports events map.
The press conference featured a distinguished group of international fighters and coaches, most notably renowned coach Javier Mendez, who praised the exceptional standard of organisation and Jordanian hospitality.
The events will continue with open training sessions at the Dead Sea on 28 October, followed by the official weigh-in ceremony at the Citadel on 29 October, culminating in the main fights at the Roman Theatre on 30 October.
The event brings together international sport and Jordan’s distinctive tourism identity, showcasing the Kingdom as a destination capable of hosting major sporting events while highlighting its rich cultural heritage and natural attractions.
