Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Toukan, and British Ambassador to Jordan, Philip Hall, signed today a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) of £5.3 million to support the National Water Conveyor Project under the Water Adaptation, Desalination and Infrastructure (WADI) Programme.
Minister Toukan commended the Jordanian-British partnership, expressing her appreciation for the support provided by the United Kingdom for this strategic project, which will contribute to strengthening the sustainable management of water resources in Jordan, adapting to the impacts of climate change, and ensuring the safe and continuous provision of water in line with the Economic Modernization Vision, which considers water infrastructure a cornerstone of sustainable growth and resilience.
For his part, Ambassador Hill noted that the signing of this MOU further reaffirms the UK–Jordan partnership and the shared commitment to long-term water resilience, improved governance, and sustainable infrastructure for communities across Jordan. He explained that in addition to the grant financing, the United Kingdom- through (WADI) Programme- has established a Risk Management Facility to provide technical assistance to the National Water Conveyor Project Management Unit. This facility is designed to strengthen the Unit’s capacity to anticipate, assess, and manage emerging project risks, thereby supporting more effective implementation and safeguarding value for money.
