Representatives from CBI visit NARC

At the premises of National Agricultural Research Center (NARC), Dr. Nizar Haddad the Director General, welcomed Mrs. Judith Arends, the Managing Director of CBI of the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, accompanied by Mrs. Melanie van der Baaren, Senior Programme Manager & Country Manager in Jordan.

During the meeting, Haddad highly valued the role of the Dutch Government in supporting the agricultural sector of Jordan, emphasizing that relations between Jordan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands are integral in achieving mutual goals through plans based on the implementation of strategies, which positively is reflected on the development of scientific research and the achievement of sustainable development that will contribute to enhancing food security. Haddad also addressed the role of NARC in cooperation with partners and stakeholders in improving the quality of Jordanian olive oil, especially ‘Mehras’ olives, which has become a global trend for the production of virgin olive oil, while shedding light at the support of the CBI to the National Olive Festival in 2022.

Mrs. Judith Arends expressed her admiration on the role of NARC that has become very noticeable in attracting pioneering projects that have a clear reflection on the development of the agricultural sector, assuring that NARC has gained the trust of the Government of the Netherlands in enhancing opportunities to shed light on the reality of the Jordanian agricultural sector and on the continuous efforts of the Dutch Government to have further future cooperation with NARC.

Mrs. Judith stated that this visit comes as part of strengthening collaboration with NARC, and Olive Sector Stakeholders to promote opportunities for value chains and the marketing of Jordanian olive oil in the global markets.
