The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday that four U.S. service members have died during ongoing combat operations.

Three of the deaths occurred during active fighting, while the fourth service member succumbed to wounds sustained in earlier Iranian attacks, CENTCOM said in a statement.

According to the statement, major combat operations are ongoing, and response efforts continue.

In respect for the families, the identities of those killed in action will not be released for 24 hours, pending official notification of next of kin, CENTCOM added.

The announcement comes after the United States and Israel initiated a direct military confrontation with Iran, launching extensive airstrikes aimed at crippling its military capabilities and dismantling its government. This marked a significant escalation, plunging the Middle East into open conflict.

U.S. President Donald Trump announced the death of Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei in the strikes on Iran.

Trump wrote on his social media platform, "Khamenei, one of the most evil people in history, is dead," adding that his death represented "justice for the people of Iran, for Americans, and for victims in many countries."

Trump further stated that Khamenei "could not escape the advanced intelligence and tracking systems," noting that the operation was carried out "in close coordination with Israel" and that other leaders were "killed with him," without providing additional details.
