Apple and Samsung continue to hold a commanding lead in the European smartphone market, collectively accounting for 62% of all shipments, according to the latest data.

While both tech giants maintain their dominance, their paths to market leadership diverge significantly, highlighting different strategies and consumer preferences.

Samsung shipped approximately 46.6 million smartphones across Europe, while Apple trailed slightly with 36.9 million units.

Samsung's success is largely driven by its mid-range offerings, with the Galaxy A56 5G emerging as its most popular model, demonstrating the company's reliance on more affordable devices to attract consumers.

In contrast, Samsung's flagship Galaxy S25 Ultra only managed to secure tenth place in the best-selling list.

Apple's strength lies in the premium segment, with the iPhone 16 securing the second position, followed by the iPhone 17 Pro Max in fourth and the iPhone 16 Pro Max in fifth place.

Notably, Chinese manufacturers struggled to make a significant impact, with no devices from brands like Xiaomi or Oppo appearing in the top ten, a decline from the previous period when the Redmi Note 13 4G featured in the rankings.

Xiaomi secured the third spot with a 16% market share, followed by Motorola at 6% and Honor at 3%.

Honor's emergence as a top-five player marks a significant development, fueled by a 4% increase in shipments to 3.8 million units.

However, the competitive landscape could be reshaped by potential component shortages and rising memory chip prices, driven by surging demand from AI data centers.

Memory manufacturers like Micron and SK Hynix are increasingly allocating production capacity to meet the needs of the AI sector, potentially impacting smartphone supply chains and increasing production costs.

If these costs are passed on to consumers, demand for even the leading brands could be affected, making the coming period crucial in reshaping the competitive dynamics.

For now, Apple and Samsung remain at the forefront, but the market is far from static, and Europe could witness faster shifts than the current figures suggest.
