Iran's Revolutionary Guard claimed responsibility for an attack on a U.S. air base in Bahrain, according to a statement released by the state-run IRNA news agency.
The Guard stated its naval forces launched a large-scale drone and missile strike on the U.S. air base in the Sheikh Isa area of Bahrain, as reported by IRNA on Telegram.
According to the statement, the Guard said it launched 20 drones and three missiles, alleging the attack destroyed the base's main command center. However, no evidence was provided to support this claim.
Tensions in the region have been elevated following reported Israeli and U.S. airstrikes on Iran, which Tehran alleges resulted in the death of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Since then, Iran has reportedly retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel and other countries in the region.
As of now, there has been no independent confirmation of the attack or the extent of any damage to the U.S. base from U.S. officials.
