Alanbatnews -

Registration has opened for the second edition of the school athletics tournament, a joint initiative by the Crown Prince Foundation, the Ministry of Education, and the Jordan Athletics Federation, officials announced.

The tournament aims to promote athletics in schools, fostering a national effort to establish school sports as a foundation for developing a sports-conscious generation and expanding participation across Jordan's governorates.

Beyond broader participation, organizers hope to identify promising athletic talent and nurture students' abilities within a positive and competitive environment that reinforces discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork.

The competition is open to male and female students in grades six through twelve in government schools across the kingdom.

The tournament will consist of three qualifying stages, starting with schools, then directorates, and finally regions, culminating in the national finals.

According to a statement, the second edition builds on the success of last year's inaugural event, which saw the participation of over 8,000 students from across Jordan.

This year's tournament will feature an expanded range of athletic events, including sprints over 60 and 100 meters, endurance races over 800 and 1500 meters, and shot put competitions with weights determined by the Jordan Athletics Federation based on age group.

Interested students are encouraged to register by completing the online application form.
