Jordan's national basketball team secured a decisive 73-60 victory against Iran in their third match of the Asian Qualifiers for the 2027 FIBA World Cup, played in Beirut, Lebanon, on Friday.

This win propels Jordan to the top of Group C with a perfect record of 6 points, marking their third consecutive triumph. Previously, they had defeated Syria twice in the first window of the qualifiers.

Prior to this match, Jordan shared the group lead with Iran, who had also secured two wins against Iraq.

Looking ahead, Jordan is set to face Iraq in their fourth qualifier match on Monday in Beirut.

The Asian Qualifiers feature 16 teams divided into four groups of four, competing in a home-and-away round-robin format.

The top three teams from each group will advance, except for Qatar's group (as they have already qualified as hosts for the upcoming World Cup), from which only two teams will proceed to the next round.

In the second round, the 12 remaining teams will be divided into two groups of six. All results from the first round will be carried over, and each team will play against the three teams in their group that they have not yet faced, in a home-and-away format.

The top three teams from each group in the second round, along with the best fourth-placed team, will qualify for the World Cup, joining host nation Qatar.
