The Minister of Tourism inspects camps trails and archaeological sites in Wadi Rum

Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Makram Al-Qaisi briefed
during a field visit to Wadi Rum on Friday about the situation of tourist and
archaeological sites, tourist camps and tourist trails in the region.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry today, the
Minister visited during the tour, Sheikh Zayed Square for camel racing,
accompanied by the Secretary-General of the Ministry, Dr. Imad Hijazin, and the
Director-General of the Department of Public Antiquities, Dr. Fadi Balawi, and
the commissioner of the city and the region in the Aqaba Special Economic Zone
Authority, Abdullah Al-Najadat, and the director of the tourist police
department, Colonel Firas Rashid, and the advisor, Hisham Al-Abadi.
Al-Qaisi called for the need to develop the field and ensure
its readiness at all times to be a tourism product that reflects the civilized
image of the Kingdom in general and the region in particular.
He stressed the importance of cooperation and joint
coordination between the competent authorities from the public and private
sectors, to advance the tourism situation in the region and attract more
tourists to visit it.
During his visit to tourist camps in the (Disah) and Wadi
Rum regions, he pointed out the importance of working on developing services
provided to tourists in a way that suits Jordan, indicating the need to involve
the local community in tourism projects so that the benefit spreads to all
residents of the region.
The Minister of Tourism stated that the Ministry is
striving, in cooperation with the Aqaba Region Authority and other concerned
parties, to develop solutions to the challenges facing the region and the
tourist camps and their operators in Wadi Rum region, appreciating the great
role of the security authorities and their efforts in creating a safe tourist
environment.
During his tour, the Minister met a number of visitors and
tourists in Wadi Rum, and listened to the observations and suggestions from
operators of the tourist camps.
