Alanbat - The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General on Sexual Violence in Conflict, Pramila Patten, said that Jordan is a role model in the world in hosting refugees despite its limited resources.

This came during a meeting between the Minister of Social Development, Chairperson of the Ministerial Committee for the Empowerment of Women, Wafa Bani Mustafa, and the UN official, Pramila Pattin, on the sidelines of the regional meeting on "Implementation of the Arab Strategy for Prevention and Response to Combat All Forms of Violence in Refugee Situations, Especially Sexual Violence against Women and Girls", which began yesterday in Amman and will continue until Tuesday.

During the meeting, Bani Mustafa said that Jordan has taken advanced steps in granting refugees work permits, explaining that about half of them are flexible permits that enable them to work in several fields.

She added that Jordan is fully aware of the importance of education for the children of refugees, as they have been enrolled in education in schools, noting that the shelters of the Ministry of Social Development receive beneficiaries regardless of their nationalities.

The minister pointed out that His Majesty King Abdullah II launched political, economic, and administrative modernization visions that resulted in constitutional amendments, adding an article that protects women from various forms of violence and discrimination, and launching a women's strategy in the vision of economic modernization.

She pointed out that Jordan has completed the first phase of the national plan to activate Security Council resolution 1325 with the efforts of the Jordanian National Commission for Women, and that it will soon launch the second phase of this national plan.
