The "Defense Law" was suspended after the end of the Corona pandemic

Recently, the Royal Decree was issued to stop the Defense Order 13 of 1992, which was approved during the Corona pandemic, as it included several provisions related to that period, and as soon as the World Health Organization announced the end of the Corona pandemic period, the Kingdom responded by stopping the defense order.

 

The legal expert in media legislation, Dr. Sakhr Al-Khasawneh, stated in an exclusive interview with "Al-Anbat" that Jordan has fully committed itself to the World Health Organization regarding the Corona pandemic, noting that when the organization announced the end of the pandemic from the world, Jordan responded quickly by suspending the work of the Defense Order Law. 13 of 1992, therefore, the normal laws returned to their normal course.

 

He mentioned that the Defense Law is one of the exceptional laws that are issued to face the circumstances that may occur, according to the provisions of the Constitution, and it is an exception to the general rules of the law, and it results in a number of violations of the provisions of the ordinary laws in force, and by virtue of its termination, the principle returns to what it was, which is the enforcement of the laws All of which suspended some of its texts under the Defense Law.

 

He explained that Defense Law 13 was related to social security issues, labor issues, and workers, and a large part of them related to the debtor’s imprisonment and remote litigation procedures, in addition to public health, wearing masks and their violations, and gatherings, stressing that with the end of this law all previously issued orders have ended, and it has now become the Security Law Social, labor law, enforcement law, civil procedure and trial law regarding trials are the laws in force.

 

In this context, Al-Khasawneh indicated that we are a state whose rule is the rule of law, and therefore the provisions of the Jordanian constitution were implemented during this pandemic, and the principle returned to what it was in terms of applying the provisions of the laws, explaining that the government does not have to issue any defense orders or exceptional laws except through the House of Representatives or during the stages Legislative law.
