Jordan Phosphate Mines hosts a meeting to establish a national mining company

At the invitation of the Jordan Businessmen Association, Jordan Phosphate Mines Company hosted at its headquarters this evening a number of chairmen of the boards of directors of companies and CEOs of a number of these Jordanian companies and banks, and a tweak of Jordanian businessmen and economists. The establishment of the National Mining Company was discussed.

The meeting, chaired by the President of the Society, Mr. Hamdi Al-Tabbaa, was attended by the Coordinator of the Mining Sector at the Royal Committee for Economic Modernization, Eng. Ayman Ayyash, Mr. Salim Karadsha, and a number of stakeholders in the Economic Department of the Royal Hashemite Court.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordanian Phosphate Mines Company, Dr. Muhammad Al-Thunaibat, explained the purpose of this meeting, welcoming the attendees.  During the meeting, the attendees listened to the speech of the President of the Association, Mr. Hamdi Al-Tabbaa, and a brief explanation by Eng. Ayyash, about the mining sector program in the vision of economic modernization, and the experiences of some countries in this field.

During the meeting, it was agreed to assign a founding committee comprising the President of the Jordanian Businessmen Association, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab Potash Company, the President of the Jordan Chamber of Industry, the CEO of the Jordan Islamic Bank, and the CEO of the Jordan Kuwait Bank.  And Eng. Ayman Ayyash, coordinator of the mining sector at the Royal Commission for Economic Modernization.

It was agreed that the committee would present a work program for the establishment of this company, the capital and the works that it will carry out within a month from its date.

The committee will hold its meetings at the headquarters of the Jordan Phosphate Mines Company until the completion of preparations for the establishment of the company.
