The head of the Religious Tourism Committee in the Association of Travel and Tourism Agents, Bilal Rubin, said that the number of pilgrims from the beginning of the Hijri Umrah season last August until the beginning of this year amounted to about 68,000 by land and air.
Rubin told the Jordan News Agency (Petra) that the demand from citizens for Umrah trips has been increasing over the past five months, explaining that the increased demand came as a result of the school holidays and the appropriate and encouraging prices for Umrah trips.
He expected an increase in demand for Umrah trips during the months of January and February, calling on the concerned authorities to extend the sustainability program and to exempt Hajj and Umrah offices from licensing fees or reduce them.
Rubin indicated that the price of the Umrah trip by land ranges between 260 and 275 dinars per person in the quadruple room, as the amount includes visa fees, accommodation, and transportation by modern buses, while the price of the Umrah trip by air ranges from 475 to 500 dinars per person, pointing out that the number of buses that transported Umrah pilgrims by land during the past five months have reached 1450 buses.
