Minister of Water, Engineer Mohammed Al-Najjar, confirmed the government's intention to integrate electricity and water bills like other countries in the future.
While hosting Mohammed Al-Najjar on the 60 Minutes program broadcast on Jordanian television, he said, "The tax collector reads the electricity and water bills simultaneously with one invoice."
He added that the citizen will pay one bill instead of two. "This plan will not apply this year, and we are going through the subject of a monthly water bill, and then it becomes a consolidated bill for electricity and water."
In a related context, he stressed that during the current year the water bill would be monthly "divided by three,"  stressing that all bills were monthly, so why should the water bill be quarterly?
He pointed out that the water bill carries an additional cost for companies because "reading meters and issuing invoices is costly, and we bear them through a greater number of collectors and monthly bills and their delivery,"  explaining that the aim is to collect the remaining water, estimated at tens of millions of dollars. "There is an area in Al Yarmook Company where the remaining amount is 70 million JDs."
