Food and medicine tighten control over the import and circulation of medical supplies and devices

The Director General of the Food and Drug General Authority, Dr. Nizar Mheidat, said, "The Foundation has taken, through the Directorate of Supplies and Medical Devices, a number of qualitative measures to enhance the monitoring and tracking of the import and circulation of medical supplies and devices in a manner that ensures the restriction of their use to the licensed institutions and safe circulation for them in order to preserve the health and safety of their users."

Mheidat added in a statement to the foundation today that the institution has developed several strict control procedures and that it was decided not to complete any import bill for laser devices of all kinds except after obtaining a non-reluctance from the Directorate of Professions and Institutions Licensing in the Ministry of Health for these bills to ensure the restriction of their use in licensed beauty centers.

The Foundation required medical supply importers, including sterilizers and antiseptics, to keep import bills and sales lists for each import process for the medical supplier "Filler" injection, which determines the entity to use and be detailed for each import process.

According to the statement, the Foundation also circulated to the producers and importers of cosmetics the necessity of providing the institution with the assignment of a banking site and certificate from the previous agent in the event that a request to change the transfer of agency for cosmetics and pharmaceutical cosmetics is submitted.

It is worth noting that regulatory and inspection campaigns on trading, supplies, medical devices, and cosmetics continue, whether in institutions, points of sale, or clinics, and the Foundation will take successively similar measures to improve control efficiency as part of its ongoing efforts to develop and support control procedures in this regard.
