The Jordanian Standards and Metrology Organization confirmed that it has the possibility of examining olive oil, whether it is an individual or a legal person

The institution said that the laboratories unit conducts 4 types of tests for olive oil upon request, as the unit examines the composition of fatty acids (fraud detection), which is the only test capable of detecting mixing olive oil with any other vegetable materials or oils.

The unit also conducts a peroxide (rancidity) test, which measures the extent to which rancidity has occurred in the oil.

It also indicated that there is an acidity test, which is used to judge the suitability of olive oil for human consumption.

And it indicated that there is a sensory evaluation (smell and taste) to judge the quality of olive oil, as the institution is unique in having an accredited laboratory for sensory examination at the level of the Kingdom.
