Greater Amman Municipality media spokesman, Nasser Al-Rahamneh, confirmed that GAM is not the authority concerned with monitoring and controlling street vendors, noting that it is within the purview of the Ministry of Social Development.

Al-Rahmana’s statements came as a result of the complaints of many citizens about this uncontrolled phenomenon, in which they expressed their dissatisfaction with street vendors with the intention of begging and those who are present at the doors and entrances of mosques, at traffic lights and in commercial and service complexes, asking for money and offering what they sell to citizens in annoying and provocative ways, and in If citizens refuse to buy what they have, they start begging.

In their complaints, the citizens demanded the competent authorities to find solutions that prevent and deter this category of beggars, especially since they are located in places known to the concerned authorities, such as the Wadi Saqra intersection signal, which is considered a center for them.

The media spokesman in the Ministry of Social Development, Ashraf Khreis, in his turn, said to "Al-Anbat" that the ministry, in partnership with the Public Security Directorate and Amman Municipality, is implementing joint campaigns to apprehend beggars and street vendors with the intention of begging and refer them to the concerned judicial authorities.
