Workshop on the enforcement of the inspection law in specifications and metrology

The Jordan Standards and Metrology Organization hosted on Wednesday a workshop dealing with the institution's experience in enforcing the Economic Activities Inspection Law No. (33) of 2017, with the participation of (9) different government agencies.

The attendees discussed the law enforcement mechanism and the legislation regulating the work of inspectors from the various participating ministries and institutions, and the most important measures that contributed to the development and sustainability of the system of control and inspection of economic activities.

During the workshop, presentations were reviewed that discussed the law and the regulations issued according to it, and what has been accomplished by the regulatory reference bodies that carry out inspection activities for the purpose of its implementation between them.

The experience of the Standards and Metrology Organization in enforcing the law and its attached and affiliated regulations and instructions, and the measures taken to improve the quality of inspections and raise the efficiency and scientific level of inspectors, which leads to the accuracy of inspections and seizures, was also presented.

The participants were briefed on the instructions consistent with international best practices issued by the Corporation, the most important of which are the instructions to object to the decisions and procedures of control and inspection No. (1) of 2021, which aim to allow the person responsible for economic activity to exercise the right to object to any of the procedures or decisions issued against him, Add to see the instructions for determining the conditions and qualifications of inspectors No. (1) for the year 2022 issued by the institution, which included the classification of inspectors based on their scientific qualifications and experience, and the required technical training, so that the inspector can carry out his duties.

The discussion dealt with the standards adopted by the corporation to inspect economic facilities and categorize them according to different levels of risk, with the aim of setting priorities when preparing inspection plans at the strategic and operational levels, in a manner that is reflected in the optimal use of available resources.

Representatives from the Ministry of Environment, the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority, the Ministry of Local Administration, the General Food and Drug Corporation, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Labor, the Greater Amman Municipality, in addition to the Standards and Metrology Organization participated in the workshop.
