11 lightly injured for ammonia gas inhalation in Aqaba

Alanbatnews - Eleven people were taken ill on Monday suffering from shortness of breath after inhaling ammonia gas at a factory in Al-Durra in the southern Aqaba Governorate, according to the Civil Defence.

It said in a statement that Aqaba Civil Defense crews rushed to the scene, administered first aid to the injured at the site before evacuating them to the Prince Hashem Military Hospital, where they were listed in a minor condition.

Ammonia gas or ammonium hydroxide is a highly irritating gas with a sharp suffocating odor, and exposure to it can result in nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain as common symptoms.
