Prince Mired inspects sports facilities ahead of West Asian Paralympics

Al-Anbat - RH Prince Mired Bin Raad, President of the Higher Council for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, Saturday checked on the sports facilities at the Prince Raad Bin Zaid Complex for Disabled Sports, which will host the second West Asian Paralympic Games.

About 500 athletes from all 12 West Asian countries will participate in the tournament, which takes place 15-22 September.

The athletes from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Iraq, Yemen, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan will compete for nearly 300 medals for various athletics (kinetics, visual and cerebral palsy), including track and field, wheelchair basketball, weight lifting, target ball for the blind and table tennis.

During his tour of the facilities, Prince Mired was briefed by Jordan Paralympic Committee Secretary General, Director of the West Asia Paralympics, Maha Barghouti, on the Kingdom's preparations to host the games.

He praised the efforts of the committee and the organizing higher committee, headed by the Minister of Youth and Culture, Mohammed Abu Rumman, voicing his confidence in achieving the aspired-for successes.
