The United Arab Emirates has announced the closure of its embassy in Tehran and the withdrawal of its ambassador and all diplomatic staff, citing Iranian missile attacks.
The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that the decision follows blatant Iranian missile attacks targeting the country's territory, describing them as acts of aggression against civilian sites, including residential areas, airports, ports, and service facilities.
The ministry added that these attacks endangered unarmed civilians and represent a dangerous and irresponsible escalation, a flagrant violation of national sovereignty, international law, and the United Nations Charter.
The UAE's Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that this decision embodies the country's firm stance in rejecting any aggression that affects its security and sovereignty. It comes amid a continued aggressive and provocative approach that undermines opportunities for de-escalation and pushes the region towards dangerous paths, threatening regional and international security and stability, energy security, and the stability of the global economy.
