Jordan's Customs Department has automated its service for inquiring about internationally wanted vehicles, streamlining the process for traders and investors, officials said Wednesday.
The service, conducted in collaboration with Interpol, is now fully electronic via the Customs Department's vehicle platform, according to Colonel Rakkad Al-Essa, Director of the Zarqa Free Zone Customs.
The move away from a paper-based system aims to expedite transaction completion, positively impacting traders and investors by reducing processing times.
Captain Saleem Al-Zawahra, head of the Interpol branch in the Zarqa Free Zone, noted that the Director of Public Security directed collaboration with the Customs Department and other relevant authorities to transition the service to an electronic system.
This shift eliminates the need for stakeholders to visit the Interpol section, further enhancing the experience for investors and reviewers, Al-Zawahra added.
Al-Essa stated that since the beginning of the current year, over 12,000 transactions have been completed using the platform.
Last year, the Interpol branch in the Zarqa Free Zone processed over 170,000 transactions, Al-Zawahra said, emphasizing that the electronic inquiry service will enable traders and investors to finalize their transactions more quickly.
