Gas supplies from the Kor Mor field to power plants in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq have been suspended, according to a joint statement from the region's Ministry of Natural Resources and Ministry of Electricity.

The decision to halt gas exports from the Kor Mor field was made in order to ensure the safety of workers at the site, authorities said.

Dana Gas, the operator of the field, has temporarily ceased supply, resulting in a significant reduction in electricity generating capacity of between 2,500 and 3,000 megawatts, the statement noted.

The Ministry of Electricity stated it is actively seeking alternative energy sources to mitigate the impact of the production decline on residents and subscribers in the Kurdistan Region.

The Kor Mor field is Iraq's largest natural gas field. It supplies approximately 67% of the Kurdistan Region's electricity needs, with some also exported to other Iraqi governorates.

The Kor Mor complex, which provides most of the power generation for Iraqi Kurdistan, has been targeted by drone attacks on several occasions in recent years.
