QatarEnergy has suspended production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) and related products following military attacks targeting facilities in Ras Laffan and Mesaieed, the company announced Monday.
The attacks prompted the energy giant to halt operations as a precautionary measure, though the full extent of the damage and potential impact on global LNG supplies remains unclear.
The European Commission stated that the ongoing conflict in the Middle East does not pose immediate concerns regarding oil and gas supplies to the European Union.
Specifically concerning gas, a spokesperson emphasized that European reserves are sufficient to cover winter needs, negating the immediate need for emergency measures.
National energy assessments are expected to take place in Brussels.
