Kuwait has announced the death of a navy soldier during a military operation, amid heightened regional tensions. The circumstances surrounding the soldier's death remain unclear, as the army has not released specific details.

The announcement comes as Kuwait's military reported dealing with a barrage of incoming projectiles. According to a statement released by the army and carried by the Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the deceased soldier, identified as Sergeant Waleed Majeed Suleiman, died on Monday evening. He was a member of the naval force and was killed “while performing his duty within the national tasks assigned to the armed forces,” the statement said.

Kuwait's military stated that its defenses intercepted a significant number of rockets and drones. Specifically, they reported intercepting 97 Iranian rockets and 283 drones since the beginning of what they described as Iranian aggression.

The effective interception of these projectiles resulted in debris falling on facilities in various parts of the country, causing minor material damage. Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water also reported that some overhead power lines in the southern region, as well as those adjacent to the Sixth Ring Road, went out of service. This caused a temporary disruption to the electrical grid and a partial power outage in several areas.

Additionally, the Ministry of Health reported that 32 injury cases, all foreign nationals, were received at Al-Adan Hospital's emergency department. Medical teams provided immediate care upon their arrival, following the highest levels of readiness and preparedness. A single fatality was also reported by the ministry. These events occur against a backdrop of heightened regional tensions and retaliatory actions.
