Jordan and Australia Discuss Enhanced Social Development Cooperation

AMMAN - Jordan's Minister of Social Development, Wafa Bani Mustafa, and Australian Ambassador to Jordan, Paula Ganly, convened on Wednesday to explore avenues for strengthening collaboration across various developmental and social domains.

The discussions centered on bolstering cooperation in areas of mutual interest, with a focus on enhancing social services and economic empowerment initiatives.

Bani Mustafa presented an overview of the social programs offered by the ministry to targeted groups, encompassing protection, care, and development services, all aimed at reinforcing a comprehensive social service system.

Efforts to promote the economic empowerment of women and families in need were also addressed, including social groups receiving support and assistance, with the goal of enhancing self-reliance and transitioning them towards productivity and employment, thereby contributing to sustainable development and capacity building.

Bani Mustafa highlighted the ministry's ongoing pursuit of developing social services and expanding alternative care services for individuals with disabilities, including programs in early intervention, inclusive day services, and family integration, in addition to efforts to replace institutional care with alternative care models.

She emphasized the significance of achievements in promoting women's political participation and priorities outlined in the Women's Empowerment Strategy within the Economic Modernization Vision, advocating for leveraging shared experiences and exchanging expertise to positively impact the level of services provided.

Ambassador Ganly underscored the importance of cooperation and coordination in shared social fields, expressing her anticipation for developing future cooperation prospects.
