Jordan, Indonesia Leaders Discuss Palestinian Stability, Regional Security

Jordan's King Abdullah II and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto convened at Basman Palace on Wednesday to discuss bolstering bilateral cooperation and fostering regional stability, according to a statement.

During the meeting, King Abdullah emphasized the importance of dialogue and diplomatic channels to de-escalate tensions related to Iran. He also underscored the need to support the efforts of Syria and Lebanon in preserving their security, stability, and sovereignty.

King Abdullah commended Indonesia's role in addressing regional challenges, particularly its support for achieving peace based on a two-state solution and its commitment to protecting Palestinians in Gaza. He expressed his anticipation for exploring avenues of collaboration in this regard.

The King lauded President Subianto's political stature and Indonesia's economic strength and projects in the region, recognizing them as fundamental factors for joint action.

President Subianto expressed gratitude to King Abdullah for the warm hospitality and affirmed Indonesia's commitment to working towards a lasting peace based on the two-state solution, emphasizing it as the only means to achieve stability in the region. He conveyed his country's support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.

The Indonesian President reiterated his country's support for implementing an agreement to end the conflict in Gaza and expressed appreciation for Jordan's role in this context.

He also addressed developments in the West Bank, cautioning against the dangerous impact of escalation on the region, particularly on efforts to restore stability in Gaza.

Discussions also covered the robust fraternal relations between Jordan and Indonesia, spanning over 75 years, and the commitment to elevating political and economic ties, defense cooperation, and promising areas such as business, investment, energy, science, technology, and health.

The leaders reviewed the outcomes of King Abdullah's visit to Indonesia last November and mechanisms for building upon its results.

The talks addressed the situation in the Palestinian territories, with King Abdullah emphasizing the rejection of escalating Israeli measures aimed at expanding settlements and controlling land in the West Bank. He cautioned against continued violations against Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs Ayman Safadi, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Major General Yousef Ahmed Al-Hunaiti, Director of the Office of His Majesty King, Ala'a Al-Batayneh, Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarab Al-Qudah, and the delegation accompanying the Indonesian President.

King Abdullah and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II bid farewell to Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto at Marka Airport following the conclusion of his visit to the Kingdom.
