Jordan Braces for Cold Snap, Possible Showers

Jordan is expected to experience a drop in temperatures and potential scattered showers, according to weather forecasts.

A weak extension of a low-pressure system centered northeast of Syria is influencing the Kingdom, leading to cooler conditions and partly to mostly cloudy skies. There is a possibility of rain showers in the northern regions.

The weather forecast indicates that on Friday, most areas will experience cold weather, while the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba will have milder temperatures. Low-altitude clouds are expected, with a chance of light rain showers in limited parts of the central and southwestern regions, potentially as freezing rain over high southern mountain peaks early in the morning. Winds will be moderate, northwesterly, and active at times.

Saturday's weather will be cold in most areas, with milder temperatures in the Jordan Valley, Dead Sea, and Aqaba. Some clouds are expected at different altitudes. Winds will be moderate, northwesterly to northeasterly.

Badia regions will experience temperatures between 16 and 3 degrees Celsius, plains areas between 13 and 5 degrees Celsius, northern Jordan Valley between 21 and 9 degrees Celsius, southern Jordan Valley between 23 and 12 degrees Celsius, the Dead Sea between 23 and 11 degrees Celsius, and the Gulf of Aqaba between 24 and 11 degrees Celsius.

Later, limited parts of the central and southwestern regions may experience light rain showers. Westerly winds will be active, with speeds ranging from 40 to 50 km/h, accompanied by strong gusts exceeding 60 km/h in some areas, causing dust in many regions, especially the Badia.
