Amman Celebrates City Day, Commemorating Founding

Amman, Jordan - The Greater Amman Municipality will celebrate "Amman City Day" next Monday, marking the anniversary of a pivotal moment in the nation's history and highlighting the capital's ongoing development.

The occasion, established by a 2021 Cabinet decision, commemorates the arrival of King Abdullah I, the founder of the Jordanian state, in Amman on March 2, 1921. This event marked Amman's designation as the capital of the Emirate of Transjordan, and subsequently, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
