Social Security Corporation Launches Safeguarding and Reporting Mechanism Policy for a Safe44 Healthy44 and Respectful Work Environment
الأنباط -

The Social Security Corporation (SSC) has launched its Safeguarding and Reporting Mechanism Policy in collaboration with USAID-funded Tawazon — Promoting the Voice and Leadership of Women Activity.
In a press statement issued by its media center, SSC emphasized that this policy aims to ensure a safe and healthy work environment, free from all forms of violence, harassment, and bullying. It seeks to uphold the dignity of employees, safeguard them from any inappropriate behavior that could impact their mental and physical well-being, and support their performance at work.
According to the statement, this policy aligns with SSC’s strategic plan and reinforces the values it adopted for 2024. It was also developed in accordance with the Civil Service Human Resources Strategy 2023-2027, particularly its third strategic goal, which seeks to create a positive and motivating work environment that enhances the efficiency and productivity of civil servants. The strategy also aligns with the royal modernization vision and complies with international agreements advocating for human rights, including the right to live and work in a safe environment, also complementing the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct in Public Service.
SSC highlighted the detailed objectives of the Safeguarding Policy, including creating a positive and decent workplace free from harassment, violence, bullying, sexual exploitation, blackmail, and defamation. It aims to establish preventive measures to protect employees from behavioral violations and deter such actions. The policy also provides mechanisms for addressing inappropriate behavior at work, emphasizing the need for all employees to adhere to institutional values and professional ethics, while treating colleagues, clients, and visitors with respect and professionalism, to foster a work environment that values diversity and cultural differences. SSC underscored that any form of behavioral violation among employees is considered a serious offense punishable under Jordanian law and the Public Sector Human Resources Management Bylaw, which in certain cases, may extend to dismissal. The policy also aims to define the rights, obligations, procedures, roles, and responsibilities designed to safeguard employees from engaging in or becoming victims of behavioral violations, thereby avoiding the penalties stipulated in relevant laws and regulations.
SSC emphasized that the policy underscores the importance of establishing a designated entity within its organizational structure, equipped with specialized and trained staff to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of the policy. It also guarantees the necessity of integrating the reporting mechanism into the institution's electronic systems to ensure confidentiality, transparency, and ease of access to protection, thereby enhancing administrative sustainability and fostering a culture of accountability and respect for employee rights in the workplace.
SSC emphasized the need for awareness initiatives to disseminate the principles, objectives, and concepts of the policy among employees, promoting a culture of reporting and clarifying procedures to prevent behavioral violations. This is to be achieved through workshops explaining the policy's provisions, goals, and acceptable behaviors, in addition to preparing educational materials, newsletters, and conducting regular awareness campaigns.
According to the statement, SSC is among the first national entities to implement this policy within the public sector. Through this policy, it seeks to reaffirm its serious commitment to providing a safe and healthy work environment that ensures employees feel secure and supported. It also positions itself as a leading government institution in offering clear mechanisms for reporting, response, and safeguarding. The institution expressed its aspiration to expand this policy across the Jordanian public sector in the future, striving for "a pioneering Jordanian public sector that ensures a safe and healthy work environment.”
USAID Director for the Office of Democracy, Rights, and Governance, Lane Mears stated, "This initiative aligns seamlessly with Jordan’s Economic Modernization Vision and Royal directives to strengthen governance, equality, and social cohesion. By prioritizing inclusive workplaces, we are empowering a resilient workforce, advancing Jordan’s national development goals, and striving to set regional benchmarks for institutional reform and gender equality.”
