Numerous complaints have reached Al-Anbat about the phenomenon of stray dogs spreading in some areas of the capital, where citizens complained of the harassment and fear that they suffer in these areas whether they live in or only visitors.
Citizens photographed this phenomenon and its effects, from annoying sounds or attacks by some of these dogs on citizens or their vehicles, requesting from Amman Municipality to intervene and find solutions for this phenomenon and to protect the residents and visitors in these areas.
Hamza, a resident of Yadodah area , said that this phenomenon is a major disturbing to residents and visitors , adding that the municipality must find a radical and speedy solution to this critical issue
Ra 'ad, a resident of the "Prince Rashid area", added "We have reached 2021 and still facing stray dogs in the streets, and the municipality must develop plans to control them in order to prevent the threat on citizens' safety and lives.
For his part, Abu Nader expressed his dismay saying that he became afraid on his children to get out the house to play without an adult to protect them from being attacked by stray dogs. and added that he and his family can't sleep because of dogs sounds in the area.
A resident of "Yasmeen suburb" said that his daughter had been attacked by a stray dog in the area ,for the God’s kindness the dog would bite or kill her.
The residents of the area were counting on the municipality to find a solution and control the dogs because the situation had become stressful particularly during the night hours.
A citizen who preferred not to be named, said he suddenly run over a stray dog in the Khalda area, causing damage to the bodywork of his vehicle as well as a psychological damage he suffered as a result of the incident.
The media spokesman for Amman municipality Nasser Rahamna said that safety had been dealing with stray dogs for decades, and had previously dealt with dogs only by shooting them, and the shooting process had not ended the problem.
And he explained that the municipality has begun tracking ABC program to fight stray dogs which aimed to control dog numbers by reducing births. Through that program, dogs were collected and then performed surgeries to remove their reproductive organs, then vaccinated and re-released again, and after a period of time dogs would be reduced.
