Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Zeina Toukan, Minister of Labour Khaled Al Bakar, and Divont Chocolate Factory’s General Manager, Engineer Zaid Al Bdour, signed a cooperation agreement to expand the company’s plant in Wadi Musa, Ma’an Governorate.
Minister Toukan said the agreement reflects the Ministry’s efforts to translate the priorities of the Economic Modernisation Vision into tangible productive projects. She noted that the expansion will help create jobs for Jordanians and broaden the economic base in the governorates. The agreement, she added, embodies the Ministry’s commitment to institutionalising financing instruments and directing them towards projects with clear economic viability, thereby ensuring sustainable employment and reinforcing local development.
Minister of Labour Al Bakar explained that the Ministry will provide incentives to Jordanian workers under the Productive Branches Initiative, implemented within the framework of a Royal Initiative. The programme establishes productive branches of factories and companies in the governorates and rural areas of the Kingdom, thereby creating job opportunities for young men and women within their local communities and localising development.
For his part, General Manager Al Bdour expressed appreciation for the support of both Ministries for this initiative, which enables private sector firms to expand while contributing to poverty reduction and job creation in remote areas. He confirmed the company’s commitment to provide 60 jobs for men and women from Ma’an Governorate, thereby strengthening local development and delivering economic and social benefits to the region.
