Jordan's digital economy is poised for significant growth following directives from Crown Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, aimed at bolstering innovation and technological advancement within the Kingdom.

These directives, issued during a recent meeting of the National Council for Technology of the Future, emphasize the critical need to develop the scientific research and innovation ecosystem in Jordan, according to Haitham al-Rawajbeh, representative of the communications and information technology sector at the Jordan Chamber of Commerce.

Al-Rawajbeh highlighted that the Crown Prince’s guidance reflects a forward-thinking strategy to solidify Jordan's position as a regional hub for innovation and technology.

Specifically, the Crown Prince urged the council to prioritize scientific research, capitalize on Jordanian talent and scientific institutions, and boost investments in this vital area.

Al-Rawajbeh emphasized that focusing on the development of scientific research and innovation is a cornerstone for supporting the growth of the digital economy and stimulating quality investments in the sector.

He further explained that prioritizing scientific research and leveraging national expertise will help align research outcomes with market needs. This alignment will enhance the ability of the communications and information technology sector to deliver innovative solutions, thereby boosting the competitiveness of the national economy and enabling local technology companies to expand and grow.

Moreover, directives related to the advancement of government digital services, particularly updated versions of the Sanad application, represent a significant step towards streamlining procedures and enhancing user experience. This will accelerate digital transformation and improve the efficiency of services provided to citizens and the business sector alike.

Al-Rawajbeh also commended the Crown Prince's commitment to expediting the creation of an environment conducive to innovation and entrepreneurship. He affirmed that the development of digital transformation projects, including the digital signature project, marks a qualitative leap in modernizing the technological infrastructure, bolstering investor confidence, and supporting efforts to build a sustainable, innovation- and knowledge-based digital economy.
