Wholesale trade prices in Jordan experienced a marginal increase, according to a recent report. The general index for wholesale prices saw a rise of 1.01% compared to the previous period.
The report, issued by the Department of Statistics, indicated that the wholesale price index for the fourth quarter experienced a slight uptick of 0.04% compared to the preceding quarter. Furthermore, the general index for wholesale prices in the fourth quarter showed an increase of 0.84% compared to the same period in the previous year.
Specifically, the general wholesale price index reached 108.98, compared to 107.89 in the previous period. For the fourth quarter, the index stood at 109.10, slightly higher than the 109.05 recorded in the previous quarter. When compared to the same period in the previous year, the fourth-quarter index rose from 108.19 to 109.10.
Several commodity groups contributed to the overall increase in the wholesale price index. The "Sale of motor vehicles, parts, and motorcycles" group saw a rise of 2.35%, holding a relative importance of 19.79%. Additionally, the "Sale of machinery, equipment, and supplies" group increased by 1.49%, with a relative importance of 9.33%. The "Trade of agricultural raw materials, cereals, food, beverages, and tobacco" group rose by 1.22%, accounting for a significant relative importance of 39.22%. Lastly, the "Sale of textiles, clothing, personal and household goods" group experienced a modest increase of 0.56%, with a relative importance of 10.91%.
Conversely, the "Sale of fuel, metals, construction materials, and supplies" group witnessed a decrease of 0.27%, despite holding a substantial relative importance of 20.76%.
Examining the key commodity groups that contributed to the increase in the general wholesale price index for the fourth quarter compared to the previous quarter, the "Sale of machinery, equipment, and supplies" group rose by 1.27%, with a relative importance of 9.33%. The "Sale of textiles, clothing, personal and household goods" group increased by 0.57%, holding a relative importance of 10.91%. The "Sale of motor vehicles, parts, and motorcycles" group saw a slight increase of 0.06%, with a relative importance of 19.79%.
On the other hand, the "Sale of fuel, metals, construction materials, and supplies" group decreased by 0.10%, despite a relative importance of 20.76%. The "Trade of agricultural raw materials, cereals, food, beverages, and tobacco" group also experienced a decrease of 0.67%, accounting for a significant relative importance of 39.22%.
Comparing the general wholesale price index for the fourth quarter to the same period, the "Sale of machinery, equipment, and supplies" group saw a notable increase of 3.73%, with a relative importance of 9.33%. The "Sale of motor vehicles, parts, and motorcycles" group rose by 1.17%, holding a relative importance of 19.79%. The "Sale of textiles, clothing, personal and household goods" group increased by 0.72%, with a relative importance of 10.91%. The "Trade of agricultural raw materials, cereals, food, beverages, and tobacco" group rose by 0.54%, accounting for a significant relative importance of 39.22%.
In contrast, the "Sale of fuel, metals, construction materials, and supplies" group experienced a decrease of 0.31%, despite holding a relative importance of 20.76%.
