Israeli forces struck Hezbollah targets throughout Lebanon on Monday, the military said, after the Iran-backed group claimed responsibility for launching rockets into Israel.
The Israeli military said in a statement that its forces initiated strikes against Hezbollah targets “across Lebanon” in response to the rocket launches into Israel.
Hezbollah, a Lebanese group supported by Iran, stated it launched rockets and drones into Israel on Sunday night and Monday, claiming it was in retaliation for the killing of Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
In a statement, Hezbollah said the attacks were in response to “repeated Israeli aggressions,” and that its fighters targeted the Israeli military’s missile defense site in Mishmar HaCarmel, south of Haifa.
