Princess Basma bint Talal, head of the higher committee of the Goodwill Campaign, delivered humanitarian aid to vulnerable families in Zarqa on Wednesday. The Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development (JOHUD) implements the campaign.
During the visit, Princess Basma emphasized the campaign's commitment to supporting national efforts aimed at assisting underprivileged families and creating suitable employment opportunities, particularly for women and girls, through productive and home-based projects.
In collaboration with the Governor of Zarqa, Firas Abu Qaoud, and members of the campaign's higher committee, Princess Basma presented food packages to 200 female-headed households and provided assistance to university students pursuing degrees aligned with labor market demands. The distribution took place at the Thabet bin Qais Charity and Zakat Committee headquarters and the Beit Al-Khair Orphan Care Society.
Princess Basma also provided support to women to help them develop their production projects, strengthening their ability to sustain these projects and ensure their success. She participated in distributing gifts and winter clothing to orphaned children. Furthermore, she met with young women working in a sewing workshop at the Beit Al-Khair Association, providing support to supply sewing equipment for the workshop. This support includes advanced training courses and sessions for the women working in the workshop.
Princess Basma highlighted the special importance the campaign places on women's economic empowerment, referencing JOHUD's programs and initiatives implemented through its development centers across the Kingdom's governorates and districts. These programs aim to equip women with the skills and expertise necessary to engage in work and marketing.
She also toured the medical clinics at the association and listened to a briefing from Naif Al-Abdallat, head of the medical team for the Goodwill Campaign, about the campaign's plans, in cooperation with its volunteers and partners from the private medical sector, to activate the clinics to ensure the provision of free health services to the region's underprivileged families and orphans.
Princess Basma expressed her appreciation for the cooperation with the campaign's partners, embodying the values of solidarity and social cohesion. She commended the partners' commitment to this message and these noble and charitable goals.
Princess Basma listened to a presentation by Walid Zakaria, head of the Thabet bin Qais Zakat and Charity Committee, and Suham Al-Omari, head of the Beit Al-Khair Orphan Care Society.
Established in 2006, the Thabet bin Qais Zakat and Charity Committee cares for 200 families by providing monthly cash and in-kind assistance.
The Beit Al-Khair Orphan Care Society, founded in 2012, cares for 620 orphans and their families through monthly assistance. The association also manages a sewing project for training and production purposes.
